TWIC: 3/9-13/2020

Monday-Friday: We will begin the process of “disecting” the last of the three essay types: synthesis. This involves looking at a variety of sources with different angles and viewpoints on a specific topic. Students must assimilate the sources, develop an argument and use a minimum of 3 sources provided as evidence to support their claim. This is the most involved of the three essay types; however, the source material is all provided.

Monday: Knowing what the prompt is asking! We will take the sample prompt apart – “unpack” it – and work on developing a thesis that fulfills the demands of the prompt.  We will also work on the MCQ questions.

Wednesday: Understanding and sorting the sources. These will include argumentative essays/articles, graphic presentations of information, visual “arguments”, etc.  We will look at sources provided by AP and decide how they can best be used to support the thesis we wrote.  The method of citation on the exam itself will be reviewed. We will also work on the MCQ questions.

Friday: Writing the intro! With a strong thesis that answers the demands of the prompt, we will write our intros in class. We will also work on the MCQ questions.
