General Information

Notre Dame Varsity Boys Tennis is played on the 4 courts located on the ND campus. The boy’s season begins when the snow melts off the courts in the spring and ends mid-May. ND participates in the Colonial League and District XI at the 2A level. Match play consists of 3 singles and 2 doubles. Player order onthe team is determined by challenge matches played during early practices. ND provides uniforms and tennis balls. All other equipment (racquet, shoes, etc.) is each player’s responsibility.

Coaching Philosophy

My first goal as a coach is to enjoy playing and learning the life-long game of tennis. Being part of a team contributes to this enjoyment. Other coaching goals include learning scoring and rules, etiquette, technique, and strategy. I approach each player at their individual level (beginner to seasoned) and encourage growth to the next levels. Another goal is to encourage players to think strategically during a match in order to win. Winning is encouraged but is not the most important aim (see first goal above). All team players are encouraged, win or lose.
