Unit 1 Group Project:  100 pts

The Church as Sacrament:

Poster/Presentation: 50 pts

Students-in assigned groups-will create a contemporary symbol for the Church and will discuss and determine 10 essential words to describe the Church today (keeping in mind the Sacramental Principles and the concept of the Church as Sacrament).  Students will be responsible for supplies to complete the project (poster board, markers, crayons, etc).

The symbol and words must be:

Appropriate for school:  Students will keep in mind the formal setting of this presentation.

Substance:  Symbols are complex by nature and will require critical thinking to develop a contemporary symbol.

Creative:  Symbols are also imaginative and innovative and will require creativity.

Presentations must be at least 5 mns long and describe the Symbol and contents of the essay.

Essay:  50 pts.

A typed-written essay in paragraph form will be submitted at the time of presentations.  To complete the essays:  students will imagine the next generation of believers.  How would you like the next generation of believers to experience the Church as Sacrament.  What would you like to see updated?  What would you like to remain the same?

This essay will be at least two pages, double spaced and in 12 pt. Times New Roman Font. and in paragraph form.  At least 5 paragraphs of Introduction, 3 paragraphs for body of paper, and conclusion.   A Title Page with Group number and names of students for each group is required.
