Martin Brett joins Notre Dame as the new Girls Soccer Coach

Martin Brett joins Notre Dame Green Pond after serving as an assistant coach with the DeSales University Women’s Soccer program for the last 11 years. During that time, Brett has been involved with all aspects of building and maintaining a competitive Division III soccer program. Since 2014, the team has qualified for MAC Freedom Conference playoffs each year, winning the championship in 2015 earning a bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Away from the field, Brett is an associate professor and chair of Sport Management in the Division of Business at DeSales University. Prior to joining the Division of Business, he earned a Ph.D. and M.A. from The Ohio State University in Sport and Exercise Management. Aside from his experience as a collegiate soccer player, Brett has worked in event management with MSG Promotions Inc. (2014 & 2008 U.S. Open and 2009 U.S. Women’s Open), Columbus Crew SC and MAPFRE Stadium (the first soccer specific stadium built in the U.S.), grass-roots marketing, and event management with national 3v3 basketball and soccer tours, collegiate athletic operations, event marketing (GMC-Pontiac), and media relations for Nationwide Arena.

Brett, a 1998 graduate of DeSales University with a B.A. in Politics, played for the men’s team for three seasons after transferring from the University of Delaware. As a senior, he was named Lehigh Valley Scholar Athlete for men’s soccer while also earning team MVP honors.
 
A native of Newark, DE, Brett currently resides in Palmer Township with his wife and son.
