Patty came into Benny’s. Smokey came in and sat with her. Rusty-James asked Smokey to step outside, and Smokey said he would not fight. They went outside and Rusty-James asked Smokey if he had planned for the news about the party to get back to Patty. Smokey said he did. Rusty-James said it was a smart thing to do, that he would not have thought of it.

No one would want to follow Rusty-James into a fight, because he would get them killed. Rusty-James agreed.

He was in the pet store looking at the Siamese fighting fish. He said he wondered if they would try to kill each other if they were in the river. - The Motorcycle Boy said he was sorry about something. What was it?
He was sorry he could not see the colors of the fish.
- Describe the discussion between Rusty-James and his father about his mother and the Motorcycle Boy.
Rusty-James asked his father if his mother was nuts. His father said she ad married him for fun, and when the fun stopped she left. He said she had a different view of the world. His father said his mother was not crazy, and neither was the Motorcycle Boy. The Motorcycle Boy was born in the wrong era. He had the ability to do whatever he wanted, but didn’t want to do anything.
- Where did Rusty-James and the Motorcycle Boy go that night? What happened?
The Motorcycle Boy broke into the pet store, and Rusty-James was with him. The Motorcycle Boy let out all the animals. He took the fighting fish to the river. On the way there, the police got them. The Motorcycle Boy was shot and killed by Patterson, the policeman who had said he would get them.
- What happened to Rusty-James?
He was running after the Motorcycle Boy and heard the shots. He saw the police turn the Motorcycle Boy over. He was thrown up against the police car and frisked. He noticed that he could not see the color in the flashing light. He also could not hear. He slammed his fists through the police car window and slashed his wrists on the glass. The police took him to the hospital.
- Was Rusty-James planning to meet Steve for dinner? What was his reason?
No, he was not planning to meet Steve for dinner. He thought if he did not see Steve, he could start forgetting again.
