Spanish 2: Week of Feb. 24-28, 2020

Special Note: Feb. 26 is Ash Wednesday~the first day of Lent.

Spanish 2  classes meet on Monday, Weds., and Friday this week.

Monday, 2/24:

  1. Collected homework in MLA format, TB p. 304 #10.
  2. TB p. 306 # 13: More practice with affirmative commands
    • With a partner, write a letter to a friend giving suggestions to improve her health . . .

    • As a class, reviewed various possible phrases
  3. ​TB p. 307: exploración del lenguaje 
    • -dor and -dora endings in Spanish
    • examples: tostadora, aspiradora, refrigerador, lavadora, despertador
    • indicate items that do the corresponding verb
  4. Introduction to present progressive tense
    • TB p. 308
    • estar + present participle (verbs ending in -ando and -iendo)
    • indicating what someone is doing right now

    • Guided Practice p. 209-completed and reviewed
  5. Homework:
    • Review present tense of estar and forming the present participle of Spanish verbs (Guided Practice p. 209)
    • Complete Guided Practice p. 210 for Weds., 2/26

Weds., 2/26: Ash Wednesday/Mass Schedule

  1. Class period shorter today due to the Mass schedule.
  2. More review of tú command forms and present progressive tense.
  3. Reviewed HW, Guided Practice p. 210 (present progressive tense: estar + present participle)
  4. TB p. 308 # 16: write and translate 5 sentences with various subjects and chores vocab,  in the present progressive tense.

  5. Homework due Friday: Core Practice pp. 116 & 117. (More practice with tú command forms and present progressive tense.)
    • Students may start working ahead and complete Core Practice pp. 119 & 120 (Crucigrama y repaso & Organizer).

Friday, 2/28:

  1. Reminder: Sign-up for REMIND
  2. Discuss: Course Selection for Spanish Honors 3
  3. Reviewed use and conjugation of tú command forms and present progressive tense (estar + present participle -ando and -iendo)
  4. Review HW Core Practice pp. 116 & 117.
  5. Discussed possible answers and students’ errors on collected assignment TB p. 304 #10.
  6. Complete Core Practice p. 118 and review
  7. Homework:  Core practice pp. 119 & 120. (Crossword puzzle and organizer)
