Beginners Spanish: Week of Feb. 24-28, 2020

Special Note: Feb. 26 is Ash Wednesday~the first day of Lent.

Beginners Spanish classes meet on Monday, Weds., and Friday this week.

Monday, 2/24:

  1. New seat assignments.
  2. TB p. 78 # 5: Prepared rough draft of students’  class schedules, following modelo.
  3. TB p. 79 # 6: Speaking exercise asking/answering if students have a lot of homework in each class. (tengo/tienes)
  4. TB p. 79 # 7: Using Spanish adjective vocab, students wrote sentences about several of their classes.
  5. No homework.

A Look Ahead:

  1. To share written sentences describing students’ classes (from Monday’s class).
  2. To receive guidelines for schedule project.
  3. TB p. 80 #9
  4. Core and Guided Practice
  5. Friday, 2/28: 2A Vocab quiz.

Weds., 2/26: Ash Wednesday/Liturgy Schedule

  1. Reviewed sentences verbally (from Monday’s class) about class descriptions.
  2. TB p. 79 # 7, continued discussing classes and preferences when given two classes to choose from and by using the phrase Me gusta más. . . . 
  3. Core Practice workbook pp. 33 & 34
    • more practice with class adjectives
    • practice using verbs tengo (I have) and necesito (I need)
  4. No additional homework, except to study for vocab quiz. Format of the quiz is fill-in with word bank (class subjects) and matching (class periods/ordinal numbers/first, second, etc.)

Friday, 2/28:

  1. 2A Vocab Quiz
  2. Continued in TB, p. 82: Gramática-Subject Pronouns
    • singular and plural subject pronouns
    • 1st, 2nd, 3rd persons subject pronouns
    • See chart in middle of page!
  3. GramActiva video (subject pronouns)
  4. Guided Practice pp. 63-64 (subject pronouns).
  5. HW: Complete Guided Practice pp. 63-64 if unfinished in class.
