The week of September 3-6, 2019, begins with a Ted Talk by Jacob Soll entitled “Bankers, Public Accounting and the Invention of Transparency” which gives us the history and background of accounting. The dialogue highlights how the dawn of accounting allows for everything from oversight to wealth creation. Further, we will dive into our Accounting books Chapter 1 to discuss the topics of Types of Business Organizations with particular interest in Proprietorships per the chapter reading. We will also learn basic accounting vocabulary terms. Outline of the importance of the “Accounting Equation” will be emphasized, along with a brief discussion of Business Ethics. Accounting functions to be learned are as follows: receiving cash, paying cash, transactions on account, expense transactions, and other cash transactions.
