Chapters 8-9 Questions
- Rusty-James said he felt as though he was floating above his body, not feeling a thing, like watching a movie after he was hit. He heard the black guy say, “Killed him!”
- Motorcycle Boy broke up the attack.
- People starting using dope which ended the gangs. Motorcycle Boy got credit for ending the gangs because he said they had gotten boring.
- Motorcycle Boy said Rusty-James’s one vice was loyalty.
- Motorcycle Boy didn’t belong anywhere and he liked it that way.Rusty-James went to Steve’s house after he left the clinic. He had never been there before. Steve’s father had beaten him up for getting home so late. Steve defended his father to Rusty-James. He asked Rusty-James to say he got beat up during their confrontation with the two boys in the city.
- Rusty-James wanted to follow the Motorcycle Boy around
for a few days. Steve said he would not do it. He told Rusty-James to ask B. J. or Smokey. Rusty-James said they would laugh at him. - Steve said that they didn’t know the Motorcycle Boy was nuts. Rusty-James got very angry at that and knocked him against the wall.
- Rusty-James felt like crying, but he didn’t.
- Steve said he had tried to help Rusty-James, but he was like a ball in a pinball machine. He never thought about anything. Steve said he could not keep on thinking for himself and Rusty-James, too. Rusty-James didn’t understand what Steve meant. He asked Steve why he thought the Motorcycle Boy was cool. Steve said it was because he was like someone out of a book. Steve told Rusty-James to let go of the Motorcycle Boy, or he would not believe in anything. Rusty-James said he believed everything. Steve said he was sorry. Rusty-James left, and that was the last time they saw each other.
