Beginners Spanish: Week of Feb. 17-21, 2020

Our class meets on Tuesday and Thursday this week.

Monday, 2/17:  No School/ President’s Day/Enjoy the long weekend! 🙂

Tuesday, 2/18:

  1. Review of Padre Nuestro (Our Father) prayer.
  2. Focus on 2A Videohistoria:  pp. 76-77
    • reviewed highlighted vocab words
    • reviewed meaning
    • practiced pronunciation
    • students read through videohistoria with a partner
    • students read parts as a class
    • Completed TB p. 77 # 3
      • Answered questions, indicating yes or no, and providing additional information in complete Spanish sentences.
  3. No additional homework assigned, except to complete 2A vocab flash cards assigned last week. Students are required to write Spanish on front, cut-out, and English on the back. Flashcards will be checked for completion and accuracy on Thursday.

Thursday, 2/20:

  1. Review Padre Nuestro prayer.
  2. View videohistoria, focusing on new vocabulary.
  3. What similarities exist between school in video (Mexico City) and our school?
    • Consider: uniforms, formality, foreign language study , lunch time/rest period
    • Venn Diagram
    • Note-taking on topic for future 2A test essay question in English.
  4. Prepare questions and ask classmates about classes and schedule, using new vocab.
  5. TB p. 78 #5-students will be preparing their personal class schedule in Spanish in project form next week . . .
    • cultural notes
      • Addressing teachers in Spanish-speaking countries with profesor (a) / profe
      • Using abbreviations (el Sr., la Sra., la Srta.) or writing out the titles (el señor, la señora, la señorita.)
    • Students wrote all students’ teachers’ names in Spanish with correct titles
    • Students wrote sentences about 3 of their teachers and what they teach.
      • Example: La Sra. Angelucci enseña la clase de español.
      • Students shared one sentence with the class.
