Assignment #3 Magical Drawing

So onward and upward it’s time for our 3rd Bi-weekly project and I say it’s time to let you have some fun. Our first two projects weren’t overly complex, but they were fairly limited or perhaps by some standards a bit stringent. This time around, I’d like you to allow your imaginations to run wild. So instead of picking an item or object to re-create, I’d like you to simply CREATE! I’ll give you a “catagory” if you will and you get to do the rest…  For our 3rd project, I’d like you to draw something “MAGICAL”!

That’s right, magic. Draw me something magic! Fantastic, dreamy, fairytales, spells, princesses, castles, creatures, legend, lore, worlds galore. Bring to life in a drawing your favorite magical story, place or person. Dare to dream, be bold and don’t let our world and it’s current conditions hold you back! Take me to a better place and inspire me with the magic that inspires you. I’m stuck in a brick box and I’m counting on you guys to help me escape. Don’t let me down, I know you can do it. Be fantastic and show me the magic!

Drawings will be due to me by Midnight of Friday May 15th.

Assignment #2 Hand Study

I would like you to do for me one of the all time classic Art exercises…   A Hand study.

“What’s a hand study Mr. L.?” you may ask. Simple, a hand study is a drawing of your hands.

In our case, I will open this exercise even more than usual for everyone who wants to get really creative. You don’t have to just draw your own hands (though you may if you like) you may do a drawing that “FEATURES” hands. Shaking,, clapping, waving, throwing, clasping, so on and so forth. As long as you find a way to make a hand (or hands) the main feature of your drawing, you’re good to go.

There you have it. Hands down the coolest project you’ll do this week or next! Be creative and have some fun while we’re all stuck in captivity. Drawings will be due to me by Midnight of Friday May 1st.

Assignment #1 “Pet Drawing”

Good morning to all my ND Art Classes!!!

Thank you for all your patience during these very unusual times. I apologize that it took me an extra week to get myself up and running but now I think I’m back in step and I hope that all of you are staying safe and healthy with all your families. I hope that your on-line classes are going well but I’m sorry to say I won’t be conducting any Art classes on-line during our time outside of the building. It would be extremely difficult if not impossible for most of my classes to do their typical assignments as we have just no way to distribute paint, computer software, clay etc. So… I’ve spoken with Mr. D and we’ve decided that I will  be assigning all of my classes bi-weekly drawings that can be completed at home and sent to me upon completion via a simple cell phone picture attached to an email.

All of the drawings can be done on 8 1/2″ x 11″ printer paper and with a #2 pencil. OR… for those of you who would like to push yourself further you may work on larger paper and with any supplies you have on hand that you would like to use. ie: water color paints, colored pencils, markers etc. I will happily accept drawings that go above and beyond the base instructions and I will be sure to take that into consideration when I assess your work.

For our first assignment I would ask everyone to draw your favorite family pet. If you don’t have a family pet or if you just prefer to draw something else, I’d ask you to draw your favorite animal from anywhere in the animal kingdome. Drawings will be due to me by Midnight of Friday April 17th.
